No Meditation Sunday, 5/29 - Transitioning to Wednesdays, 7pm for Summer
Minneapolis Insight | MAY 27, 2022
Dear Community,
What can be said this week? Our hearts break again as we witness senseless violence in our communities and world. In the same week we reflect on two years since the murder of George Floyd, we bring our available compassion to bear witness to the murders in Uvalde, TX. We condemn all violence, including state sanctioned violence arising through both commission and omission. We recommit to acting from the ground of our values, and seeking individual ways to realize the possibility of peace and freedom for all in this world. We also strive to build solidarity with our communities and neighbors, knowing we cannot go this path alone.
At the bottom of this email is a link to a community vigil being held online by Insight Meditation Society tonight at 5pm CT. The event will be recorded and available on demand if you would benefit from the experience of community practice. Make sure to register if you would like access to the recording.
Transitioning to summer schedule - Wednesdays, 7pm
Based on community input, we will begin holding a "summer schedule" this week. There will be no session this Sunday, 5/29; instead, Benjamin H will host our community on Wednesday, 6/1, at 7pm CT. You will see the website has been updated to reflect these new times, and you can register for this coming Wednesday's session here.

A Community Vigil
7:00 pm - 7:40 pm ET
Open to all.Â
The violence in the US this month — the killing of African-American elders at a grocery store, Asian elders worshiping in their church, and 19 small children and two of their teachers in their elementary school classrooms — has elicited so much pain and grief. For many it has also elicited a new or renewed determination to try to make this a better world. For others, well, for now it’s just exhaustion.
We at IMS invite all of you to join us this Friday night to hold space for our collective, whatever we feel, and offer metta to all who are suffering. This program will be recorded and made available for on-demand viewing after the live session. On-demand videos will be available for 90-days following the live event.
This is a free event. Open to all.
